Do you want to directly support your favorite bands?
There are several great ways you can help the bands and artists that you love. Being a fan is great and showing your support on social media is helps other people discover new music. But bands and artists also need to pay their bills, invest in their craft, and support their lives in order to thrive and continue making great music.
The music industry has always been challenging as a band or artist, and that is still true today. While the advent of music streaming, online distribution platforms, and social media has made it easier for artists to get their music out into the world and for fans to discover new music, it has also changed the economic model for artists. As consumers are used to receiving music for free, artists have shift how they make money, putting a greater emphasis on live shows as a source of revenue.
There are several great ways to support artists:
- Buy a ticket and attend a live show
- Buy a physical or digital copy of your favorite artist’s albums
- Buy merchandise sold by your favorite artists (t-shirts, towels, wristbands, etc.)
Many artists and band members work other jobs to supplement their income from music – even members of bands that you think are well-known or successful are often making most of their income from sources other than music. If you want artists to being able to produce more music, perform more live shows, and dedicate more of their time to their artistic endeavors, the best way to do is to support them financially.
